Hilary Smith
I am a young writer and mental health advocate living on beautiful Fidalgo Island, Washington. After attending the University of British Columbia, where I edited the satire newspaper The Underground, I moved to San Francisco and interned at a publishing house. I am the editor of The Med, an online magazine for college students and other cool people with mental illnesses, and have a book about bipolar disorder forthcoming from Conari Press in spring 2010. I've also published fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction in print magazines such as West Coast Line and Contemporary Verse, and am currently working on a young adult novel.
Besides writing and mental health, my other interests include hiking, ethnobotany, veganism, music (I have an associate's degree in piano performance), unusual travels, and languages.
